With a lifelong artistic curiosity, my work is created from memories or images that move me and allow freedom of spirit. What becomes of the result, is another entity all to itself. My hope is that the viewer can pause to enjoy the view.

As you roam these pages, you will find that my art leans towards what I describe as Primitive Literalism. My brush strokes are at times jagged with energy that appears to leave behind texture and character.

Every painting I create tells a story and every story I write feels like a canvas waiting to be filled with color and emotion. As an American artist and author, I move fluidly between brush and pen, letting visual inspiration shape my cozy mysteries and letting narrative depth guide my artwork. Honorable Speaker of the United States House of Representatives John Boehner recognizes American Artist Kris Courtney and "Proudly Displays" ACT (Original Oil Painting - First Issue AP) in West Chester Ohio Office.

In notice of the January 5th, 2011 swearing in as Speaker of the House, Courtney delivered this 'One of a... Kind' print in time for Mr. Boehner to mark the event.
